Reunion Island rare rums
Founded in 1948, the Savanna distillery continues the rum-making tradition. Deeply rooted in its´ land, in 1992 this ancient rum distillery, originally established in Savanna in Saint Paul de la Réunion, was transferred to the Bois-Rouge site in the north-east of the island, near to the sugar refinery of the same name. It carefully controls every step in the production of its´ rum, from the cutting of the cane to the bottling, which is carried out in the distillery. A rare practice for a rum distillery, Savanna produces both agricultural rums and traditional rums. It is also an expert in the production of ‘Full Flavour’ rums.
Guided by its´ demand for quality and its´ passion, the whole team gives free rein to its´ breath creative with the realization of rare rums which thus reveal the grandiose characters, unexpected and untamed people of the island.
Savanna rums will appeal to those in search of alternative and exclusive emotions, but also all the hedonists who want to discover a brand of Reunionese rums at the amazing quality.
Nose: Nice and fruity, with tropical fruit such as mango, pineapple, passion fruit, and almond with marzipan. When allowed to breathe, patisserie like notes appear, along with rum baba and brioche.
Palate: Mellow, initially matching the nose in terms of fruit, then with a hint of aniseed and mild spices (saffron and curry) that bring structure.
Conclusion: A smooth, well rounded, and unaffected rum that offers an excellent natural introduction to cane spirits. The subtle presence of wood, which brings out the fruit and spices, is an added bonus.
